How to get a German pension when moving to Russia

Как получить немецкую пенсию при переезде в Россию

How to get your personally paid contributions to the German pension fund.

In order to receive your pension contribution (Arbeitnehmeranteil), the following conditions must be met:

Citizens of the Russian Federation must:

  • have continuous work experience for five years
  • not to make contributions to the German Pension Fund for 2 years

If you have less than 5 years of work experience, you can withdraw your pension contributions immediately.

Only after this period have passed are you entitled to receive the portion of the pension contributions that you have paid yourself (Arbeitnehmeranteil). The portion that the employer paid (Arbeitgeberanteil) will not be paid.

If you were on rehabilitation from the German pension fund, this will reduce the payment several times.

German citizens can only count on monthly pension payments once they reach retirement age.

If your work experience in another country is taken into account, your monthly pension payments will be recalculated.

Only by renouncing German citizenship can you take back the part that you contributed yourself.

The procedure for submitting documents for payment:

  • Fill out the V0901 application form to pay your contributions (Eigenanteil)
  • Renunciation of German citizenship (Verzichtsurkunde)
  • Proof of your Russian citizenship (passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation with registration, translation into German and certified by a notary)
  • Bank account details for currency transfers (issued by your bank)

It is important to choose a bank in Russia that is not under sanctions.

For more detailed information on your specific case, please contact the German Pension Fund (Rentenversicherung).
